The Beth Chatto Gardens, located in Elmstead Market, Essex, are an internationally renowned ecological garden and nursery known for pioneering the concept of "the right plant for the right place". Created by plantswoman Beth Chatto beginning in 1960, the gardens were developed from a neglected and challenging piece of land featuring contrasting dry, gravelly soil and wet, boggy areas.
